The Salt Slab BBQ and butchery is in the heart of the beautiful Natal Midlands, 10km up the Curry's Post Road from Howick. Owing to the fact the Mike Ross the owner has strong ties to Texas and has been catching wildlife in the USA for the past 15 years, he found that South Africans and Texans share a love for meat, in that of Braai / BBQ. He decided to bring to the Midlands where he lives, one of Texas's oldest and most loved cultures that brings family, friends, and strangers together and that is Authentic Texas BBQ, where cuts of meat like beef brisket, beef ribs, slabs of pork ribs, pork butts and more are cooked low and slow on wood fired smokers. Our restaurant has a licensed "Saloon," indoor and outdoor dining, with an elevated deck overlooking the large play area for the kids.
